Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Akari is a web browser for iPhone, Mac and Windows, made by 0ARCH (Joseph Rodriguez, Miami, Florida). This policy explains what the apps do with your information. Questions or requests: privacy@0arch.io.

The short version: your browsing stays on your device, an Akari account is optional, and we do not show ads, sell data or track you across apps or sites.

2. Browsing

Pages load directly from the websites you visit. Your history, open tabs, favorites, downloads and settings stay on your device. Private tabs keep nothing after you close them.

3. Search

The default search engine is Google. What you type in the address bar is sent to Google to show search suggestions and results, and Google's privacy policy applies to that.

4. Site icons

To show the icons on your favorites, the iPhone app fetches each icon straight from that website. No third-party icon service is involved.

5. Shields (content blocker)

The block lists (EasyList and EasyPrivacy) ship inside the app and run on your device. Nothing about what is blocked is sent anywhere.

6. Optional Akari account and sync

You do not need an account to use Akari. If you want to sync between your devices, you sign in with your email address. We email you a 6-digit code, sent through Cloudflare, and the code expires after 10 minutes.

If you use an account, we store:

• Your email address
• A list of your devices: the device name, the platform (iPhone, Mac or Windows) and when it was last seen
• Your sync data: favorites, color and theme, open tabs, and pages you send to another device

Your sync data is end-to-end encrypted on your device with a key we never receive, so we cannot read it. It is stored on Cloudflare (Workers and D1). You can sign out or remove a device at any time. To delete your account and its data, email privacy@0arch.io.

7. Anonymous usage counts (iPhone app)

The iPhone app sends anonymous daily counts of actions, such as "a search was made", "a favorite was added" and "the app was opened". These carry no identifier, are not linked to an account, and contain no browsing history or web addresses. They are not used for tracking or ads. Our host, Cloudflare, necessarily sees the IP address of the connection in order to deliver the request, but we do not log or store it, so the numbers can never be traced back to you or your device.

8. Mac and Windows apps

• Update checks: the apps check for updates from our server, which runs on Cloudflare. That request carries your IP address and the app version.
• Safe Browsing:the Mac and Windows apps are built on Chromium, which uses Google Safe Browsing to warn you about dangerous sites. Google's privacy policy applies to that.

9. What we do not do

• No ads
• No selling of your data
• No tracking across apps or sites

10. Children's Privacy

Akari is not directed at children under 13.
