Programs

  • 5/3/1: enter a recent best set for squat, bench, deadlift and press (315 × 5 is fine). Plateside estimates your max, takes 90% of it as the training max, and writes four-week waves: 5s, 3s, 5/3/1, deload. The last set each day is marked with a plus: do as many reps as you can. After the deload the training maxes go up by 10 (lower body) and 5 (upper body).
  • Linear: five sets of five (one set for deadlift), alternating workout A and B. Finish every rep and the weight goes up next time; miss reps and it stays.
  • Warm-up sets can be switched off in the program screen. They never count toward your records.
  • Saving the program again restarts it at week 1; your history is kept.

Logging

  • Adjust weight and reps with the minus and plus buttons, then tap the circle when the set is done. Tap it again to undo.
  • Tap plates under a set to see what to load on each side of the bar.
  • The rest timer starts on every finished set. Change or switch it off in Settings.
  • Finishing early keeps only the sets you marked done.
  • PR appears when a set beats your best estimated max for that lift. The estimate uses the Epley formula: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30).

Apple Watch

  • Install the watch app from the Watch app on your iPhone if it does not appear on its own.
  • Start the workout on your iPhone; the watch shows the next set. Turn the crown to set reps, tap Done. Swipe up for the full list, undo and finish.
  • If the two get out of step, the device with the most recent change wins as soon as they are near each other.

Plateside Pro

One purchase, no subscription. It adds progress charts and CSV export. Logging, both programs and the watch app are free. Use Restore purchase in Settings on a new phone.
